The IDF European Region, in partnership with the International Society for Paediatric and Adolescent Diabetes (ISPAD) organised a series of events in and around the European Parliament in Strasbourg to mark World Diabetes Day 2007.

Diabetes youth representatives from various EU Member States visited the European Parliament between 13 and 15 November to raise awareness of diabetes in children and adolescents and to ask for specific attention to differences in care across Europe. A special theme was addressed: "diabetes at school."

Key activities:

• Meetings between the youth representatives and their Members of the European Parliament (MEPs).
• A lunch discussion on Young People and Diabetes, involving MEPs and other EU diabetes stakeholders. During the discussion a Call to Action was launched.
• Meetings with high level politicians and presentation of a Declaration and Call to Action.

A World Diabetes Day celebration also took place in the main square of Strasbourg on the evening of 13 November.
