246-Step Walk
246-Step Walk
Once again, the world walked together to mark World Diabetes Day in 2007. Over 140,000 people from more than 70 countries on seven continents walked together to help raise awareness of diabetes and celebrate the first United Nations observed World Diabetes Day.
The Global Diabetes Walk was coordinated by the World Diabetes Foundation (WDF) to support the International Diabetes Federation (IDF) in its passing of the UN Resolution.
We asked that the first 246 steps of each walk symbolically recognize the 246 million people estimated to be living with diabetes worldwide, and also serve to remind healthcare policy and decision makers worldwide that we have a shared responsibility to improve the lives of people living with diabetes everywhere. To do nothing in the face of the fast-growing pandemic is not an option.
