The Cyprus Diabetes Association sponsored events throughout the country to raise diabetes awareness.

Kiosks with diabetes information were erected on World Diabetes Day as follows:

1 bi-communal kiosk at the Ledra Palace Hotel in Nicosia
4 kiosks in Nicosia Town
2 kiosks in Paralimni
1 kiosk in Paphos
1 Kiosk in Larnaka
1 Kiosk in Limassol
1 kiosk in Kyperounta
1 kiosk at Karvounas Crossroads

Additional stands were placed in private hospitals, two in Nicosia at IPPOKRATIO and APOLLONIO and one in Limassol at YGEIA. All kiosks were manned by nurses, nursing students, members of the Lions Club, and clinical dieticians. Also at these stations, podiatrists examined diabetics free of charge, and nurses ran blood glucose tests. On 13 November, a kiosk was set up at the Atrium of the House of Representatives to distribute pamphlets and blood glucose analyses to members of parliament, ministers, other staff, and members of the press.

Posters with World Diabetes Day slogans were sent to each municipality, village community, and Government Hospitals in Cyprus. WDD t-shirts were worn by everyone working at the kiosks.

The Nicosia Municipal Building was lit in blue during the week surrounding WDD.

Potamia Village - a mixed Greek and Turkish town - organized a bi-communal event with the Lions Club to distribute diabetes pamphlets and take blood glucose analyses. Paralimni staged a theatrical performance and Limassol held a formal dinner to mark WDD.
