WDD Bike conquers Rally of Tunisia
Youcef Cummings, the Australian cross-country rally rider piloting the World Diabetes Day bike and raising money for the International Diabetes Federation's Life for a Child Program, completed his first challenge of the year by finishing an excellent 10th place in the gruelling Rally of Tunisia, which took place on 23 April-4 May.
The rally consisted of nine stages, covering over 3000 km through the Tunisian desert and into the sand dunes of Libya. Despite breaking his sternum during one of the stages, Youcef successfully completed all of them, even finishing 2nd on stage 7, beating many professional riders in the process.
The World Diabetes Day bike received a very good response and Youcef looks forward to riding it in more races. The next rally on his schedule is the Pharoans Rally, which will take place in Egypt on 4-11 October 2008.
