Walk together to mark World Diabetes Day
On World Diabetes Day (14 November) last year, the World Diabetes Foundation coordinated an event to raise global awareness of diabetes: the Global Diabetes Walk. More than 161,000 people from 55 countries worldwide took part in the walk - a clear demonstration that diabetes is a problem that affects us all.
This year, WDF will be coordinating the walk to support the International Diabetes Federation (IDF) in its passing of the UN Resolution and to celebrate the first United Nations observed World Diabetes Day.
The IDF campaign calls for everyone to ‘Unite for Diabetes'. The Global Diabetes Walk is an ideal way to show your support and to raise awareness of the campaign on an unprecedented scale.
Support the campaign and World Diabetes Day by organizing one or more walks and by encouraging as many as possible to take part. You can register your event and find out more details by visiting the Global Diabetes Walk website www.gwlk.info.
