The city of Wellington in New Zealand is the latest in the list of towns and cities around the world to issue a proclamation in the run-up to the first United Nations World Diabetes Day. Thanks to the efforts of Diabetes New Zealand, an official document has been signed by Mayor Kerry Prendergast.

In her message, the Mayor encourages 'all Wellingtonians to help fight Diabetes and its life-threatening complications by becoming more aware of the risk factors for the disease and the importance of making healthy lifestyle choice to minimise those risks.'
