Austrian landmark joins WDD Monument Challenge
The Hofburg in Vienna, Austria is the latest global landmark to confirm its participation in the Monument Challenge on November 14, to mark World Diabetes Day.
The Hofburg housed the rulers of the Holy Roman Empire and Austria for hundreds of years and now houses the office of the Federal President. From this historic building, the Habsburg family ruled the country and the Holy Roman Empire for centuries. Inside the large building are the Imperial Silver Collection, the Sisi Museum, and the Imperial Apartments. Even though the fall of the Austrian monarchy took place in 1918, five thousand people still work and live in the palace today.
The Monument Challenge encourages buildings and monuments around the globe to light up in blue to help raise awareness of diabetes and take part in celebrations around November 14, World Diabetes Day. Find out more.
