Argentinian Landmark joins Monument Challenge
The Obelisk in Buenos Aires, Argentina has confirmed that it will again be among the iconic monuments around the world that will light in blue to help raise awareness of diabetes on World Diabetes Day, 14 November.
Built in 1936, the Obelisk took only four weeks to complete. The monument was constructed to celebrate the 400th anniversary of the city of Buenos Aires. Located in the Plaza de la República, the Obelisk stands at sixty-seven meters tall. It is often the site of celebrations on holidays and after Argentinian football victories. These events often include many people, and attract a lot of media attention.
