No child should die of diabetes". This slogan of World Diabetes Day, taking place today 14 November, focuses on the alarming progression of the disease - or more precisely of its different forms because there are diabetics - among children and adolescents. More than 200 associations have been mobilised into action in 150 countries.
The event is on an exceptional scale. In fact, it is the first time that World Diabetes Day has been officially recognised by the United Nations, which has chosen to formally alert the international community to the extent of this problem.
