When the sun sets tonight, Istanbul's Bosporus Bridge and more than 120 other iconic buildings from around the world will be lit up blue to mark the first annual World Diabetes Day.
The International Diabetes Federation and the global diabetes community will mark the first United Nations World Diabetes Day by holding many activities around the world today. The aim of the day is to raise awareness about diabetes and its serious effects on people. Considering there are about 246 million people living with diabetes worldwide, the importance of awareness is clear.
