World Diabetes Day 2009

On World Diabetes Day 2009, a Diabetes Awareness Rally was organized by the Chengalpattu Diabetic Care and Research Centre. Over 1200 students from various schools and colleges in and around Chengalpattu participated.

Various tests were performed free for public:

• Free diabetes exhibition.
• Free blood sugar testing.
• Free diet counselling.
• Free complications screening camp.
• Free foot testing – Biothesiometer, Doppler.
• Free Retinopathy screening camp.
• Free cataract screening camp.
• Free Dental camp (Karpaga Vinayagar Dental College)
• Free Body Mass Index testing.
• Free Blood pressure testing.
• Free Bone Mineral Density test.
• Free Anti obesity counselling.
• Free Kidney screening- Micral test.
• Free HbA1c test.

Dr. K.P. Pichumani and Dr. Anuradha Pichumani gave a special talk on “Diabetes- a socioeconomic impact”.

Diabetes Awareness competitions such as diabetes quiz competitions, diabetic walk competition, cookery competition, best couple competition, speech, essay and drawing competitions were held and prizes were distributed to the winners.
