In 2007, we asked the global diabetes community to seek local, national and regional proclamations and declarations in support of UN Resolution 61/225 and World Diabetes Day. Towns, cities, states, countries, and political representatives around the world responded by issuing official statements for World Diabetes Day. We are aware of the following declarations and proclamations:

The Proclamations in the United States were achieved thanks to the efforts of the American Diabetes Association (ADA) and the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation (JDRF).

Also in the United States, a bi-partisan House Resolution introduced by U.S. Congress Representatives Donald Payne (Democrat) and Donald Manzullo (Republican) supporting the goals and ideals of World Diabetes Day was passed.
