London Eye to get the blues again

Enviado el 17 Octubre 2008

The iconic London Eye will be lighting in blue again this year to celebrate World Diabetes Day, and help bring diabetes to light.

Opened in March of 2000, the London Eye is a wheel composed of capsules that provides its passengers with a wonderful view of London. The Eye was designed by David Marks and Julia Barfield, with the circular design symbolizing the turn of the millennium. From atop the London Eye (at 135 metres), one can see 40 kilometres across the city of London, a sight that has made the Eye one of the most popular attractions to visitors of the city.

The World Diabetes Day Monument Challenge asks buildings and monuments around the world to light up in blue to help raise awareness of diabetes. Over 280 landmarks have already confirmed their participation. View the full list.
