The Diabetes Association of Mali and the Bamako authorities have decided to unite for diabetes and act on World Diabetes Day 2008.

IDF calls for global action to support children with diabetes

World Diabetes Day aims to establish the message that access to appropriate medication and care should be a right for every child with diabetes, irrespective of the geographic accident of birth. Today, Saturday October 25, the International Diabetes Federation is bringing together key opinion leaders to push for action to secure care for the thousands of children with diabetes in developing countries that do not have access to the care they need and as a consequence face a very uncertain future.

The iconic London Eye will be lighting in blue again this year to celebrate World Diabetes Day, and help bring diabetes to light.

As World Diabetes Day quickly approaches, many plans are being made to celebrate the day. There are many ways in which people can get involved, through the Monument Challenge, a Diabetes Walk, or another activity you wish to participate in. World Diabetes Day offers many activities for individuals to help make an impact.

GoTrybe.com, the first completely interactive health and fitness website for young people, is asking families to send in their best “blue photo” in honour of World Diabetes Day. GoTrybe invites children and families to take pictures of family members, pets and friends engaged in a blue activity, and send the best photo via www.GoTrybe.com/blog anytime between now and November 14.

Friends of World Diabetes Day go for Google Doodle

The City of Seraing in Belgium has joined the World Diabetes Day 2008 Monument Challenge and will light their City Hall in blue on 14 November to mark World Diabetes Day. The city will also host various activities for the public on Saturday, 15 November in honour of World Diabetes Day.
