Globe set to go blue for World Diabetes Day!

Posted on 10 November 2009

As the countdown to 14 November accelerates, we are receiving a constant flow of lighting confirmations and updates about planned events. At the time of writing this message, more than 660 monuments - including the Empire State Building, London Eye, Christ the Redeemer, Burj al Arab and the Obelisque in Paris – confirmed they will bathe in blue for World Diabetes Day.

For all the latest information, please keep an eye on the WDD campaign website (http://www.worlddiabetesday.org) and twitter account (http://www.twitter.com/WDD).

Every year, people around the world come up with many different ways to involve the local community, engage the media, and raise awareness of key diabetes issues among decision-makers and the public.

The majority include some common elements as part of their celebrations:

1. Promotion of the blue circle as the global symbol for diabetes
2. Use of the colour blue (pantone colour 279 or as near as possible)
3. An element of fun
