Marg McGillMarg McGill is currently a Senior Vice-President of the International Diabetes Federation (IDF). She was elected as a Vice-President of IDF in 2003 and has been Chair of the Consultative Section on Diabetes Education since 2000. Over her 24 years of professional involvement in diabetes care she has developed a deep understanding of the psychological and social issues that impact on the daily lives of people with diabetes, their families and carers.
Marg McGill has a Master of Science in Medicine. She was Australia’s first paediatric diabetes educator, and she has managed Australia’s largest diabetes centre for the past 15 years. Her clinical and research interest is in the detection and management of diabetes complications. She has a strong expertise in developing models of care for chronic disease in developed and developing countries suitable to local resources, and has had a long involvement in health professional education in many IDF regions.
Marg McGill was Editor-in-Chief of the IDF International Curriculum for Health Professional Education and a member of the working group which developed the IDF International Standards for Diabetes Education.
